Week 8 - Preparing Final Ideas

This week we started to discuss the document proposals and what content we should be putting in (or leaving out). I personally find it difficult to explain the idea without going into too much research detail, so getting the proposal element of the document right will be my main focus.

I also finished my presentation for the final ideas I wanted to propose for the project and this presentation is linked to the button below.

Four Last Things - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HS5b2nQYlCk

This video trailer is from a point-and-click adventure game by Joe Richardson, utilising Renaissance-era paintings to induce an almost child-like cut-and-stick style. The visual imagery is intriguing and thought-provoking for the player to have so much to look at, especially as there are modern day animations working alongside the traditional visuals. Perhaps I should consider other traditional techniques in contrast to my existing ideas to produce more engaging visuals.

It was also suggested I look at these images. I am unsure of the source but the visuals alone are enough to inspire areas of my own project. The colours and textures give the images an empty, run down feeling in contrast to the soft style of the actual materials used. What I love most about these compositions is the lighting. The top two scenes are clearly in daylight whilst the bottom right image looks like more of a dusk setting. The clarity this offers the models is beautiful whilst still giving an eery atmosphere with content. I will be looking to implement these same elements in my own work by being aware of my use of lighting and how the textures and materials work alongside this.
